It never ceases to amaze me how a few simple styling changes can completely transform the overall vibe of a space. I just finished wrapping up a project with a longtime client of mine (reveal coming soon!!) and surprisingly this small area proved trickier to pin down than her living room, which we finished earlier this year. The home is an open plan, and this particular area is a transitional space between the dining room and living room, located by the staircase. The family requested an area for their young daughters to be able to watch videos or go online without being too far from the main family areas in the playroom. At the same time, it couldn't be too busy or childlike, and had to flow with the newly decorated living room as well as the dining room. One item that they knew they wanted was an acrylic console table, which I immediately agreed with due to it's light footprint and edgy look. As the design progressed, we went through a few iterations until landing on the final look. It's amazing how different each look was, even though the anchoring piece -- the console -- didn't change!
